Our top tip for the shoe designer to watch, Burak Uyan is currently relatively unknown outside of fashions inner circle of design houses and celebrity stylists, but the frequency his designs have appeared on A-listers on the red carpet this year suggests this is all about to change.
Formerly on the Givenchy design team, and most recently at Giambattista Vialli, where he was credited with turning the footwear arm of the label around, Burak launched his own label in 2011. Now available on Net-a-Porter and with his own website launching soon, you are going to hear more about this designer.
Inspired by a love of architecture and modernist design, German-born Parisian Burak’s footwear combines twisted geometrical designs with a very French sensuality. The results are highly original, but wearable, design masterpieces. Can you tell we’re fans?

Clearly quite a woman, Aminah Abdul Jillil was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and later became a professional dancer for the likes of Britney Spears, Janet Jackson and Cirque de Soleil in LA. Her footwear label launched in 2012, and features sculptural designs with a feminine edge. As worn by Rihanna in her Where have you been music video and a host of in-the-know fashion bloggers, her shoes are swoonworthy style at a not-cringeworthy price.
We particularly love the way her designs make the most of their materials, such as the curved suede statement bows on her iconic pumps, and soft slouchy leather straps on her wrap sandals – currently available for pre-order.

Featuring classically styled shoes that are designed specifically to flatter large size feet, Sensational Soles is a very welcome addition to the ranks of large size brands. Designed by founder Lisa Taylor, who wears a size 13 shoe, the brand offers a full range of footwear, from elegant peep-toe pumps to comfortable flat sandals, all in luxury materials, such as leather and suede — some even feature Italian-made leather soles.
With prices starting at under $100, we particularly love the attention to detail that has gone into the design and manufacturing process. The heel heights are designed to be proportional, at an ankle saving 3.75 inches, and steel reinforced for all-day comfort. With the online store only launched this February 2015, Sensational Soles are currently offering Isy B Shoes insiders a tempting 25% off their whole range. Just use the code ISYB at checkout.
New to us
Launched in 1999, but new to us, Lisbon-based Luis Onofre is a Portuguese designer beloved by style powerhouses Michelle Obama and Paris Hilton (who both have size 11 to 11.5 feet). His elegant designs combine a recognizably European sense of understated chic with eye-catching detailing, such as colored linings peeking out of sandals, or luxe touches of metallic.
Available only from Onofre’s Lisbon store or online, his designs are shoes worthy of tracking down.
